Q. WHAT IS THRIVE 21
Thrive 21 is the name we give to our monthly 21 day fitness challenges.
We bring out a new 21 minute fitness class for you to do each day.
If you're joining us on our Weight Loss Plan, you also get the option of dietary guidance. As well as completing the daily workout, your job is to also stick to your diet goals for as many days of 21 as possible.
Most people don't get it perfect. We're all about progress, not perfection.
Q. WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE 21 DAY CHALLENGE?
We have a throwback week, where old favourites are re-released from our workout vault.
Everything runs the same - you still have the option of doing as many classes as suits you, and we still encourage you to stick to your dietary goals.
But there's less emphasis on the "challenge" aspect during this week.
We have consistently found that long term results come from this structure. You can't be at 100% all of the time. Our throwback week acts as a pyschological reset.
Then the next challenge begins, and we go again.
During this week, we also release a check-in for our members to do. We use this to keep tabs on how you're doing, to see if you require any adjustments, and so we can publicly congratulate those who did extremely well in our end of the month round-up.
Q. ARE THE CLASSES LIVE? OR CAN I DO THEM ANY TIME?
You can do the classes any time. All classes are pre-recorded.
It's totally up to you when you want to put on a class and do it. You just need to find 21 minutes!
Even if you're an early bird, the class will be ready for you.
Q. HOW LONG ARE THE CLASSES?
Almost all of our classes are 21 minutes long, apart from our steps classes which are 30 minutes.
In our vault, we have older classes of varying length - from 10 minutes long to 40 minutes.
Q. DO I NEED ANY EQUIPMENT TO DO THRIVE WORKOUTS?
Nope!
Our "Power Up" class is an upperbody class where we use very light weights for added resistance. The vast majority of our ladies join in this class with tins from the kitchen - as only a small amount of resistance is needed.
We also sometimes run a "Booty" class, designed to build and tone the bum. You can do this class with a resistance band, but once again, it isn't required at all.
If you want to buy weights for our weights class, go for 1.5 kg dumbbells like these.
If you want to buy a resistance band, go for a set of three fabric resistance bands like these.
Q. WHAT IF I'M REALLY UNFIT?
We are absolutely not a platform for the super fit!
We have success stories from ladies of all ages, shapes and sizes.
Our classes are designed in a way so that they are scalable. In other words, you can make them as easy or as hard as you need to.
If we're doing a move that's a bit fast or tricky, we will also show / suggest a modification that you can switch to in the corner of your screen.
Our belief is that movement and exercise are for everybody, no matter what your current circumstances are. We will constantly remind you in our class to take everything at your own pace, to rest where you need to, and most of all to enjoy yourself.
Q. WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A THRIVE CLASS?
We put on a range of different classes each week, but there are some things that characterize all our classes:
-
The focus is always on fun.
-
Lot's of music of all different styles.
-
Each week has a theme, e.g. "Musicals Week," or "80's Week".
-
Informal, and likely to make you laugh as much as you sweat.
-
Modifications are always shown or suggested.
-
Classes can be done at any time, anywhere.
Here's a quick run-down of our most popular classes and what they entail:
Disco: A continuous routine to music. Our most popular class.
Level Up: Half steps, half HIIT. We step for a minute or so, before moving in to a higher intensity move. The twist is that you have a choice, and are presented with three options. Level 1 is easy, 2 is medium, and 3 is hard.
Power Up: Our upperbody class. We use light weights / tins for extra resistance. Typically we also include a section of the workout where you have the option to use heavier weights if you wish.
Fiesta: This is a continuous routine to music that starts slow, and gradually builds up throughout.
Thrive FIRE: Our favourite. This is a much harder continuous routine to music, with upperbody elements thrown in.
Yoga: A much slower class run by our Yoga Instructor Ashleigh, typically on a Sunday.
Booty or Legs & Booty: A class designed to burn the lower body and to build up the bum! Part of the workout is stood up, and part of the workout is on the floor using a resistance band if you have one. This is optional and not essential!
Abs Ladder: A core class where we start with easier moves, and then challenge you to continue to follow us "up the ladder", as the moves get harder and harder. As always, modifications are available for when the going gets tough!
Steps: 30 minutes of stepping to music. Lot's of banter, and karaoke is encouraged.
Q. HOW DO I ACCESS THE WORKOUTS?
Everything is done via our app. You are sent an invitation to this once you sign up.
Alternatively, you can also go to the 'Members Area' page of our website.
The classes are sorted in to different weeks, with the most recent classes easiest to find.
If you have a smart TV, we highly recommend doing this on your phone.
Because when you click the workout you want to do, it will open the YouTube app automatically - and you will have the option of "casting" this to your smart TV.
And this is the best way to experience a Thrive workout. Put the volume up LOUD and go for it!
Q. I'M HAVING TROUBLE GETTING THE WORKOUT ON MY TV
There are a few ways that you can pop us on the TV if you’d like a more immersive viewing experience.
Option #1: The easiest way is to simply cast us from your phone. You can find instructions on doing this here. The short version, is by opening up one of our classes on YouTube on your phone or tablet, and then clicking the cast symbol.
This is what the vast majority of our members do, but there are a few other ways.
Option #2: On your phone or laptop, you can open the class that you want to do on YouTube. Save it to your favourites or “liked” videos on YouTube. You can then open the YouTube app on your smart TV and navigate to your saved/liked videos.
Option #3: (If you don’t have a smart TV): You can get us up on your laptop and then plug us in to the TV using a HDMI cable. If you have any games consoles lying around, they’ll have a HDMI cable with them.
You can also find specific cables to connect your phone directly to your TV, but the type of cable would depend on your phone.
As always, feel free to contact us if you're still having trouble and we will see if we can help!
There are a few common issues that may be preventing you from "casting" the workout to your TV.
1. You accessed our website through Instagram. This means that you went to our bio or similar, and clicked straight through to the website. It also means that when you click the workout, the YouTube app doesn't start automatically - and so the "cast" symbol does not appear. The way to fix this is by opening our website in your phones web browser - e.g. Google Chrome.
2. You haven't got the YouTube app on your phone or TV. Most phones and TV's come with it pre-installed, but if not, you may have to go to the relevant app store and get it.
3. You're searching for Thrive Ignite on your TV YouTube App. This won't work as our workouts are privately listed, to make sure that only paying members have access to them. In other words, you have to go through our website.
Q. CAN YOU EXPLAIN MORE ABOUT YOUR MEMBERSHIP PLANS?
We just have one membership plan available that gets you access to everything. The reason for this is that we think our fitness classes alone should be priced at £32.99, and we consider all the extras you get to be just that - extras.
So it makes sense to just offer everything under one plan and keep things simple.
Q. CAN YOU EXPLAIN MORE ABOUT THE DIETARY HELP I RECEIVE?
When you sign up, we send you an email invitation to get set up on our app. There, we ask you a series of questions.
First, if you are following SW or similar, or don't want dietary advice, that's fine of course.
Otherwise, we usually start you off with a personalised calorie target. So we want to know your height, weight, and a bunch of different bits and pieces about how your life looks on a weekly basis, so we can build a picture of you and your weight loss efforts up to now.
As above, we provide you with a personalised calorie target based on all this, plus a lot of added context appropriate to you. We also make suggestions on where you should focus your efforts.
This target will be in your app, so you can check it off each day. If you want to, you can even sync our app to My Fitness Pal, so that you don't have to check it off each day and it's done automatically.
You also have the option of joining one of our WhatsApp "Squads" which is a smaller, tight knit group of ladies that support each other via WhatsApp. We limit these groups to around 25 people.
Q. HOW IS EVERYTHING TRACKED?
We do this through our Instagram page. At the end of each workout, we will remind you to head to our Instagram page @thriveignite and comment 'Done' underneath the relevant workout. Each workout that you do has a corresponding image.
You will usually see many other comments underneath the image too. Feel free to let us know what you thought about the class!
You're also assigned a team for our 21 day challenges, and each workout you complete gets a point for your team.
Everything is also tracked via our app.
Many of our members choose to track themselves too. One way you can do this is by using our Tracker Images. We've written more on those below.

Q. IS THERE A CONTRACT? AND HOW DO I CANCEL MY ACCOUNT?
We do not do contracts and you can cancel any time.
Please do try to cancel within 48 hours of your payment date so we have enough time to cancel the direct debit.
To cancel your account, please go to this link.
Due to the nature of our business, we do not do refunds. The only exception to this is if we have made a clear error - for example if you asked us to cancel your account in due time by filling in the above form, and we did not do so.
Q. WHEN ARE THE DAILY WORKOUTS ACTUALLY RELEASED?
They are actually released the night before they are scheduled on our weekly timetable, so even if you're an earlybird, the workout will be ready for you when you get up.
Q. WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
Obviously this depends on many factors, but we will try to give you an idea.
Most people who join Thrive are interested in weight loss and general body composition. But just to note, there are many, many other benefits to working out each day. It improves your mood, energy levels, fights depression & anxiety, boosts confidence, is associated with greater health and longevity, builds strength and power, and sets a good example for your kids.
We tend to find that ladies doing just our fitness plan do lose weight / inches. This isn't just because of the calories burned during a workout - it is also because working out regularly makes you more inclined to make healthier choices. The endorphin release also helps to combat cravings.
That said, you do need to be in a calorie deficit - e.g. burning more calories than you are consuming. The old saying is true - you cannot out train a bad diet.
So if you follow our fitness plan consistently without considering your diet, you could lose or gain. Generally speaking though, most women will lose weight gradually.
If you include a diet goal set by us we aim to help you to lose 0.5 to 2 lbs per week.
Again, this depends on your consistency, genetics, age, time of the month, and many other factors.
But if you are consistently sticking to your personalised calorie estimate, it is typical to lose around 4 - 8 lbs per month.
In your first week, it is not unusual (in the words of Tom Jones) to put on a small amount of weight. This is almost always water weight - a result of your body repairing and rebuilding your muscles as it gets used to exercise.
